My name is John Russell and I live in Brutus Michigan twelve miles North of Petoskey Michigan. I am married to my wife Aimee Russell of nineteen years and we have two Children, son Tate Russell (fourteen) and daughter Josie Russell (thirteen). The children attend Petoskey public schools after starting their education at Petoskey Saint Francis schools. Both children are involved in all kinds of extracurricular activities, especially in sports. My wife Aimee is a business owner in Petoskey.
I grew up in Mason County Michigan near the (Ludington Area) where my father (Scott)was a school superintendent and my mother (Shirley) was a realtor. I have one older brother Greg that is six years older than myself that followed in my dad‘s footstep’s in education and currently works for Whitehall school district.
I graduated high school from Mason County Eastern schools in 1989 and went on to Central Michigan University, where I got a BA in Commercial Recreation Programming with an emphasis on Outdoor and Environmental Recreation. During my senior year of college , I had to do a 30 week internship and I did that through the city of Ludington parks and recreation. After my internship, I went to work for the city of Ludington for one season managing their marina, athletic fields & beachfront facilities.
I excepted a position with David Victor Johnson at Bay Harbor Company in 1994 as their Harbor master and Recreational Director of the Bay Harbor Resort, which I spent 17 years in that position. Some of the highlights are managing the Bay Harbor Lake Marina, Bay Harbor Swim & fitness facility, & the Bay Harbor Yacht Dock association. Creating events such as the In Water boat show, Classic Car & boat festival. Also working on gaining the Clean marina designation through the State of Michigan. I assisted the developer developing a world class facility with an emphasis and outdoor recreation. Boating, Golf, equestrian, Building the “ Bay Harbor lifestyle”
In 2010, I joined Kidd & Leavy Real Estate. I started my first few years working out of our Boyne City office. I currently utilize our main office in Petoskey as the location I would call home. I personally cover properties in a three country area which includes Charlevoix , Emmett, and Cheboygan counties. It has been a pleasure working with Kidd & Leavy Real Estate and all of the staff over the last 14 years & I look forward to future “ Representing Northern Michigan’s Finest Properties”.
